Origin
A slow metabolism ruled out long chases, so its bite became a way to end the prey's struggle quickly.
Appearance
A plump black-and-orange Gila monster with a broad head, four massive legs, large separate blotches and a short striped tail.
Signature ability
Beaded Bite
110 damage, 30 Toxin damage per second for 4 s and Staggered for 1.5 s. A pair of Gilatoxes evolves into Lavizard.
Passive trait
Thrifty Venom
If Gilatox did not use a Toxin move last turn, its next venom has a stronger effect and costs less resource.
Moves

Evolution
Line E-19: From Venom to Obsidian
Gilatox → Lavizard → Obsivaran
First evolution: constant contact with hot rock shifts its defenses from chemical to thermal; the skin becomes porous and heat-resistant.
Second evolution: on old lava fields the outer plates turn smooth, dark and glassy. Obsivaran is a heavy terminal form built to move among sharp volcanic rocks.
