Reefling ancestors began letting polyps grow on their skin as camouflage; the symbiosis proved so rewarding that it became hereditary.
Appearance
A block-shaped head with a short tubular snout, a round belly, a detachable crown of three large coral knobs, two wedge fins and a compact, rigid C-shaped tail.
