Origin
This ancient line survived in deep marine karst systems, its outward form barely changed.
Appearance
A cream-and-gold disc shell with an amber spiral on both sides, a small turquoise head and three paired clusters of short tentacles.
Signature ability
Spiral Guard
170 shield for 5 s; for 4 s, enemies hitting Ammonaut take 25 Shell damage. A pair of Ammonauts evolves into Lumisquid.
Passive trait
Chamber Buoyancy
Ammonaut can change its vertical position without the usual Maneuver cost; after changing depth it gains a brief Adaptation bonus.
Moves

Spiral Guard
Signature move
Shell / Support
Withdraws into its shell and greatly raises Armor.

Chamber Rise
Flow / Maneuver
Changes height or depth and avoids a ground Field.

Shimmer Ink
Flow / Field
Creates a cloud that lowers accuracy and reveals movement inside it with glowing particles.

Shell Bump
Shell / Strike
A short, heavy blow with its spiral shell.
Evolution
Line E-06: Cephalopod Spiral
Ammonaut → Lumisquid → Metropus
First evolution: moving from deep karst systems into the open sea, the outer shell gradually shrinks away, buoyancy comes under the control of soft tissues, and communication shifts to patterns of light.
Second evolution: life in a complex network of artificial canals and flooded tunnels sharpens intelligence, tentacle dexterity and spatial memory. Metropus becomes one of the most trainable Evolumes of its generation.
