Origin
Transparency protected it in the open ocean but made communication difficult, so its chromatophores evolved into an elaborate system of light symbols.
Appearance
An opaque light-blue teardrop body with star spots, two thick side fins and three paired blocks of short tentacles underneath.
Signature ability
Beam Pattern
200 damage to the target (×1.5 if Marked), then Marked for 3 s.
Passive trait
Chromatophore Code
After using a Light move, it may switch visual mode for free — camouflage, warning or lure — gaining a small situational bonus.
Moves

Star Chart
Light / Field
Projects false outlines and lowers enemy accuracy.

Ink Night
Shade / Field
Covers an area in a dark cloud and gives an ally Stealth.

Beam Pattern
Signature move
Light / Impulse
A precise long-range strike; empowered against a Marked target.

Jet Burst
Flow / Maneuver
Retreats sharply and raises the Tempo of its next action.
Evolution
Line E-06: Cephalopod Spiral
Ammonaut → Lumisquid → Metropus
First evolution: moving from deep karst systems into the open sea, the outer shell gradually shrinks away, buoyancy comes under the control of soft tissues, and communication shifts to patterns of light.
Second evolution: life in a complex network of artificial canals and flooded tunnels sharpens intelligence, tentacle dexterity and spatial memory. Metropus becomes one of the most trainable Evolumes of its generation.
